TE 2024 Laoman’e Kucha

One of the most special teas from Bulangshan. Kucha means bitter tea but it is a special kind of bitterness that quickly transforms into refreshing sweetness with flowers and candy aftertaste. There is also some creaminess to this tea that we really enjoy. This year’s version is a bit more bitter than last year’s. We think this adds something extra to it. The leaves are beautiful, silver and green. Some of the most beautiful in Yunnan.

Have had the oportunity to both taste the 2023 versions as well as this 2024 version and have to say: The 2024 version is indeed more bitter but more fun to drink as well.
The bitterness is upfront and sharp but drops of nicely to reveal a well ballanced floral and vanilla floral that lingers and becomes sweeter.
For me the perfect example to how both taste and mouthfeel add to the experience and overall enjoyment of a tea as this tea grabs your full attention when drinking it. I can also fully recomend this tea if one needs something to lift you up and give you energy as this tea kicks you right awake after the first sip 😉 .
